The Lone Star College System Small Business Development Center received an outstanding response to the call for nominations for the SBDC Business of the Year Awards.
The LSCS SBDC first requested nominations in June and received more than 130 applicants for the prestigious award.
“We are in the review process as we speak with the advisory council meeting to select three finalists from each of the five colleges,” said SBDC director Sal Mira.
The 15 finalists will be recognized with a special luncheon on Oct. 30. Award recipients will be announced at the 22nd Annual Small Business Awards Banquet on Nov. 20. Both events will be hosted at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.
The theme for this year’s banquet “The Spirit of Entrepreneurship” supports Global Entrepreneurship Week Nov. 17-23, 2008. Global Entrepreneurship Weeks reinforces that small business leaders make this country strong. Entrepreneurs are innovative, they understand that creative ideas and knowledge are necessary and that time, motivation and taking advantage of opportunity are crucial in the process.
Individual tickets are $50 and tables for 10 people are $500. A variety of sponsorship opportunities with recognition levels are available ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Reservations and sponsorships are now being accepted for the awards banquet through the Small Business Development Center by contacting 832.813.6674 or visiting http://sbdc.lonestar.edu/.
