Variety of Fall Classes

For $15 dollars a year, area residents can become a member* of North Harris College's Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) and enjoy a wide-variety of classes being offered throughout the year for free or very low supply cost, but residents must register in advance. ALL is geared toward adults 50 years young and above, but all ages are welcome to join. Lone Star College-North Harris is located at 2700 W.W. Thorne Blvd., one-half mile south of FM 1960 E, between Aldine-Westfield and Hardy Roads. Oct. 17:            Walking Ghost Tour of Old Town Spring, 2 to 3:30 p.m., group meets at the Little Dutch Girl shop, 210 Gentry, Old Town Spring. Cost $10.

Oct. 20:            Book Club, discussion of Triple Exposure with author Colleen Thompson, 1 to 3 p.m., LSC-North Harris campus, room CMED-206. Free*.

Oct. 28:            Water Quality, find out about the safety of our area drinking water with instructor Alex Van Keuren of the City of Houston Public Works and Engineering Department, LSC-North Harris campus, room CMED-206. Free*.

Oct. 31:            Identifying Trees, learn unique characteristics of popular trees with certified Forester and Arborist, John Ross of Burditt, Inc., LSC-North Harris campus, room CMED-202. Free*.

Nov 8:              Grandparents Day at W.G. Jones State Forest, grandparents, grandchildren and kids of all ages can learn about East Texas Piney Woods ecology, 9:30 to 11 a.m., group meets at W. G. Jones State Forest Conroe District Office, FM 1488, 1.5 miles west of I-45. Free*.
